The Drafting Table slated to open in September.

The folks behind Midtown Tavern are planning a new concept in the Old Fourth Ward, according to Matt Chavis, general manager at the Midtown restaurant.

Called The Drafting Table, the restaurant at 349 Decatur Street, is slated to open in September, Chavis told WNA in an email Thursday.

“If you have been to Midtown Tavern, you know we pride ourselves on providing an exceptional, chef-driven, “from scratch” menu, paired with carefully choosen craft beers and bourbons,” Chavis said.

“Chef Hunter Thompson Keels’ innovated take on American cuisine with high-quality, local, and organic products is what sets us apart from your average tavern fare in Atlanta. At The Drafting Table, Chef Keels is taking this philosophy to a new level.”

The Drafting Table has a sample of its menu over on the restaurant’s website.

hi mark, yes – this is at the pencil factory lofts. we’re guessing it’ll replace the now-shuttered hill street tavern.

It is in the former Hill Street Tavern. Kept meaning to get there. This place should be better, hopefully. Wondering about parking there, though. Garage, or street only?

I always find it funny when people worry about parking at a bar. A MARTA station is right next door. Drinking and driving sucks

@Chris. I always find it funny when people aren’t smart enough to realize most of Atlanta does not live close to a Marta stop.
