Georgian Terrace Hotel opening ‘yet to be named’ concept near its Livingston Restaurant & Bar

Midtown’s 100-year-old hotel files permits for new addition.

Georgian Terrace Hotel is opening a new concept separate to its current in-house restaurant, Livingston Restaurant & Bar.

The 100-year-old Midtown hotel, at 659 Peachtree Street, filed a permit with City of Atlanta for an “interior renovation of existing restaurant space” for the “Georgian Terrace Bar,” last week.

A Livingston spokeswoman sent What Now Atlanta this statement Thursday:

The “yet to be named” concept is slated to be a compliment to its’ elegant full service sister upstairs.  Bar focused with an emphasis on crafted interpretations of the classics, artisan beers and other unusual finds.  Comes complete with a “modern snack bar” approach to food.  Dark colored wood, brushed metals and century old brick creates an industrial but comfortable feel.  Debuting late spring 2012.

Construction on Livingston’s sister concept will cost an estimated $75,000, according to the permit.

    Chef Zeb Stevenson is fantastic at Livingston. I hope, and would assume, that he will have a role in this?

    I’ll take any excuse to go inside this beautiful Georgian Terrace building. Looking forward to seeing what they come.

    I’m wondering the same thing as szq — it sounds like this will be in the area downstairs below the current bar, near the conference rooms.

    Caleb, while on the topic of Midtown, any talk out there about what happened to the shell station at Peachtree Circle and Peachtree Street at the enterance to Ansley? It has been in the neighborhod for years first as a BP if im not mistaken and always seemed very busy. Not that im sad to see a gas station close on Peachtree but it was certainly better than a dark vacant building. Perphaps a new development coming along with the vacant lot next door?

    JT this does not really help but I know that for yeard Dewberry had a sign (and at some point a rendering) or high rise-ish residential building on the open site next to it… maybe that is part of it? Clearing it without concrete plans doesnt make sense, though, so maybe they arent related?

    Dewberry owns it, and there are no plans for anything to be built on that land as of right now.

    Is it possible the gas station closed because that was consistently the most expensive gas in the city BY FAR? I’m sure they were trying to take advantage of all the wealthy ansley residents but seriously, that was at least 30 cents more per gallon than every gas station around. What a joke.

    They could charge it because of convience. It was the only gas station between many of us in the neighborhood and the highway. They were expensive but they didnt hurt for business i had to wait for a pump more times than not.

    I’ll give it a chance.

    Livingston Bar = Quite Good
    Livingston Restaurant = Not worth half of what it costs. I have had meals much better at Zaxby’s. If you’re in the neighborhood and want something classy but that actually tastes good . . . Ecco is the place to go.
